Today is the last day of Backyard Safety Week, part of Building Safety Month, propane fans! Whether you’re heating a pool, grilling, firing up a tiki torch, or building a firepit, remember to make safety a priority all summer long.
“Everybody loves spending time outdoors during nice weather, and amenities such as grills, firepits, outdoor lighting – even swimming pools and outdoor kitchens – help homeowners make the most of their outdoor spaces,” said Stuart Flatow, Vice President of Safety & Training for the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC). “At the same time, we want to help homeowners be knowledgeable about the placement, use and maintenance of outdoor gas appliances.”
We don’t want to be redundant, since we know you’ve been faithfully following along at the ‘pro, but here are some safety links if you need a refresher:

Building Safety Month was first initiated in 1980 by the International Code Council Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting public awareness on issues of safety, technological development, and construction of strong, sustainable buildings and homes.
“By supporting ICCF’s Backyard Safety Week and offering a comprehensive set of safety tips, we hope to make summer enjoyable for homeowners everywhere,” Flatow added.
