Running a vehicle on propane has its advantages over gasoline: Lower fuel costs, lower toxic emissions. Though a clear disadvantage is the choice of propane-powered rides available. The market is focused on school buses and practical little sedans (and those are only available overseas, to boot).
So it was refreshing to see BMW engineer the powerful, propane-fueled Hurricane series. Car blogs have been talking up the 660-horsepower beamer all week, noting that it goes from 0 to 62 mph in 6.2 seconds. What’s more, the Hurricane has a top speed of 207 mph, making it the fastest LPG car on earth.
The car is expected to retail for about $44,850.
