As the ‘pro informed you last week, Virginia lawmakers have taken more aggressive action in increasing the state’s use of alternative fuels, a move that propane giant Ferrellgas recently applauded. The company is one of the country’s largest propane distributors and operates one of America’s 35 largest green fleets as well.

Ferrellgas representatives stopped in Richmond to witness Governor Bob McDonnell signing the executive order initiating the conversion of the state’s 10,000-vehicle fleet to propane autogas and other green fuels. They even brought a ROUSH liquid propane injection Ford E-350 van for the occasion.

“We congratulate Gov. McDonnell and applaud his decision to shift Virginia’s vehicles from the use of traditional fuels to cleaner burning alternative fuels,” said Ferrellgas senior vice president George Koloroutis.

“This effort will help reduce dangerous greenhouse emissions and play a significant part in lessening our nation’s reliance on foreign oil,” he added. “I hope to see other states follow his leadership example.”

Autogas remains the most widely used alternative fuel, and the third most popular motor fuel. With continued support from President Obama and expansion of infrastructure like autogas fueling stations, we can likely expect more news like this to come!
